Altho VGA is analogue and HDMI digital - both work, but when using an hdmi connected screen there is an issue with shutdown - there seems to be no difference between the imagery displayed.

Mar 17, 2013 · VGA will go up to 1920X1080 and beyond. 1920X1080 is HD/1080p when used on up to 24" monitor. DVI is a bit sharper than VGA with text, but not dramatically enough to notice without comparing two systems side by side. HDMI is only really necessary, or desirable, when using the audio function - imo. True HD monitor ? Depends on the size.
