The new home of the Republic FC in the California capital’s Railyards district will have a capacity for 12,000 fans that can be expanded for concerts and other events.

Sacramento Republic FC has been given the go-ahead to build new, privately-funded stadium in the downtown Railyards area.

Sacramento's city council voted Tuesday afternoon to approve a financing plan that will allow Republic FC's new soccer stadium to break ground and for the surrounding development of public infrastructure.
