After a first-round 62, he shot progressively worse in each remaining round, capping the weekend with a 73 and losing by two strokes to Scheffler.

MacIntyre mostly went blow for blow against the world’s best player in the third round, shooting 68 to Scheffler’s 67, and by making a 41-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, he gave himself a four-shot cushion heading into the penultimate Sunday of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Robert MacIntyre had a heated interaction with fans during the third round of the BMW Championship, but it served to raise his competitive edge.
For starters, MacIntyre picked up $2.16 million for finishing second to Scheffler at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mill, taking his season’s earnings on the US circuit to close to $8 million.
