The Southeastern Conference has postponed Thursday night's women's basketball game between No. 5 LSU and No. 2 South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, until Friday because of winter weather. The decision Wednesday comes a day after a winter storm dropped about a foot of snow in parts of south Louisiana and made travel hazardous in subtropical communities that possess little in the way of snow-clearing equipment for roads and airports.

A major winter storm that has spread snow across Southern states this week, including the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana, has impacted multiple sporting events in the region. Schools canceled classes in many areas across at least eight states,

The game, initially scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. in Colonial Life Arena, will now be played on Friday at 5 p.m. ESPN will broadcast the game as planned, but the “College GameDay” show will no longer be part of the broadcast.
