The longest college football season ever, starting in August and ending on Inauguration Day, became an Ohio State coronation.

ATLANTA — Mercedes-Benz Stadium was the epicenter of the college football world Monday as it hosted the College Football Playoff National Championship between Ohio State and Notre Dame. The game features a plethora of stars as two of the sport’s most talented rosters meet head-to-head. The matchup also brought out stars off the field.

Ohio State’s championship trophy has arrived for its tour of central Ohio, and plans have been made for a Sunday celebration of the Buckeyes. The university announced details on Thursday for its rally at Ohio Stadium.

Coming into the CFP National Championship Game, Ohio State had a 6-0 edge over Notre Dame in the history between the two programs, including a 17-13 win in 2023 and a 21-10 win in 2022. Atlanta hands off hosting duties for the next CFP National Championship Game to Miami, where the game will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in 2026.
