According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Coen is staying in Tampa Bay on a new contract that will make him one of the league’s highest-paid coordinators. He’s coming off a strong first season running the Buccaneers offense with Baker Mayfield at quarterback.

The news dropped on Wednesday morning that Liam Coen was taking his name out of the running for the Jaguars' head coaching opening to remain with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen was scheduled for a second interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers were already preparing for Coen's potential departure.

Former UMass quarterback Liam Coen is one step closer to becoming an NFL head coach. On Wednesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars officially announced that they had interviewed Coen for the head coach position. Jacksonville’s job opened up after the team fired Doug Pederson on Jan. 6.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will bring back three candidates for a second round of interviews for their head coaching opening. Over the coming days, the team will meet with Liam Coen, Patrick Graham, and Robert Saleh in-person.
