Justin Fields was carted off with a leg injury during Jets camp, paving the way for veteran Tyrod Taylor to take the reins while Fields recovers.
First and foremost, Fields is a tremendous athlete and is well-built at 6-foot-3, 227 pounds. Secondly, the Jets’ offensive line projects to be much better in 2025 than it was a season ago.
Fields is making $3.2 million this season but has a fifth-year option for 2025 at $25.7 million. Several teams made deals for backup quarterbacks, but it’s unknown which clubs wanted Fields.
If Fields makes a leap this season, starting with the opener Sunday against the rival Packers, he could earn a contract extension worth around $100 million. If not, he could be replaced.
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields went from being considered a franchise quarterback to disregarded by the Chicago Bears in just three seasons. Share Updated: 9:18 PM EDT Mar 19, 2024
