Free agency began at noon Monday with the legal negotiating window. The new league year officially started Wednesday at 4 p.m., when contracts for pending free agents agreeing with new teams — and trades — become official.

After a relatively quiet week, the Detroit Lions set off a flurry of activity on Wednesday, re-signing key personnel and picking up Grant Stuard in free agency. Lions General Manager Brad Holmes is busy extending the contracts of several key players whose contracts were up for renewal.

Tim Patrick finished sixth on the Detroit Lions with 33 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns in 2024. He has signed in free agency.

Patrick, 31, played the role of big wideout in Detroit's offense in 2024 after being plucked from the Denver Broncos scrap heap. He quickly worked his way from the practice squad to the active roster. In 16 games, including nine starts, Patrick caught 33 of the 44 passes thrown his way, netting 394 yards and three touchdowns.

The first week of free agency is wrapping up here on a Friday. The Lions have made four moves. They've signed cornerback D.J. Reed, nose tackle Roy Lopez, linebacker Grant Stuard and quarterback Kyle Allen.
