The consortium of the European space telescope Euclid has published its first data set. It includes many newly discovered but very old galaxies.

The Euclid space telescope has spotted 26 million galaxies in just one week of observations. The European Space Agency (ESA) has just released the first batch of data from the groundbreaking Euclid space telescope, which was built to study the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy throughout the universe.

Although the telescope is just getting started on its mission, it has already delivered some impressive snapshots of the dark cosmos. In February, Euclid captured an Einstein Ring in the galaxy NGC 6505, which is about 590 million light-years from Earth. The mission’s first release of cosmology data will take place in October 2026.
