UN chief Antonio Guterres said Friday the organisation would do "everything" to prevent food rations being cut for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Guterres said "dramatic" cuts in humanitarian aid announced by the United States and other countries meant there was a "risk to cut food rations in this camp".

The United Nations will do all it can to help prevent food rations being cut for Rohingya refugees in camps in Bangladesh, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday during a visit to the world’s largest refugee settlement.

Rohingya refugees in crammed Bangladeshi camps say they are worried about a U.S. decision to cut food rations by half beginning next month, while a refugee official says the reduction will impact the nutrition of more than 1 million refugees and create “social and mental pressure.
