Lebanon's Defence Minister Michel Menassa and Syrian Defence Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra have agreed on a ceasefire after two days of clashes along the border, the two governments said late on Monday.The defence ministries said they had agreed on continuing contact between their army intelligence directorates to prevent more deterioration on the border.

Syria’s army attacked Lebanon after it said three soldiers were kidnapped, brought to Lebanon and killed by Hezbollah militants. Hezbollah denied involvement.
