The best young spellers in the English language are set to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Rian Camty, who just finished eighth grade at Millard North Middle School, was eliminated in the fifth round of the preliminaries after incorrectly identifying the meaning of "taboo."
