Squid Game” (2021-) actor Lee Joo-sil, who played the mother of detective Hwang Jun-ho in the series, died on Sunday at the age of 81.

“Squid Game” actress Lee Joo-sil has died at age 81. Lee passed away Sunday at her family home in Uijeongbu, South Korea, according to Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo. She was diagnosed with stomach cancer in Nov. 2024, the paper said.

Her funeral will be held on February 5 at Severance Hospital in Seoul, where fans can pay their respects starting February 4.
