India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day with a colorful parade displaying its military might and cultural diversity at a ceremony on a boulevard in the heart of country’s capital.

January 26th is celebrated as Republic Day in India, marking the date in 1950 when the Indian Constitution was adopted. This historic event symbolizes the nation's transition to a Sovereign Republic and honors the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the efforts of the Constituent Assembly.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto looked on as guest of honour at India's annual military and cultural parade in New Delhi held to mark the country's 76th Republic Day on Sunday.

Republic Day, celebrated on January 26th, commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950 and India's transition to a sovereign republic.

The Indian Consulate in Auckland organised its first large-scale event since commencing operations in September.
