Once again, Josh McDaniels will fill the New England Patriots offensive coordinator position. As expected, the team is hiring McDaniels after speaking with him Tuesday, according to CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones. The Patriots made the move official on Wednesday.

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel has filled out his staff, hiring longtime Bill Belichick assistant Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator.

Now, the Lions are also starting over at both the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator positions on their coaching staff, with OC Ben Johnson being hired to be the next head coach of the Chicago Bears and DC Aaron Glenn being hired to be the next head coach of the New York Jets.

Schottenheimer is the first known internal candidate to interview for the head coaching job. The 51-year-old Schottenheimer, son of the late NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, joined the Dallas staff as a consultant in 2022 and held the offensive coordinator title the past two seasons while McCarthy was the play-caller.
