The Reds remain just barely below the cutoff line for the last wildcard spot after Sunday's game, a spot currently held by the New York Mets. Additionally, the team also is doing well after their win against the Brewers to maintain an unusual claim to fame: Going all season without being swept in a single series.
Among the usual top baseball teams this season, there is another, more unexpected name – that of the Milwaukee Brewers.
It was a unsung hero who stepped up for the Reds. Jose Trevino put the Reds ahead 1-0 with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. In the eighth with Tony Santillan on the mound, Trevino called for a pitchout and caught Milwaukee's Tyler Black trying to steal second base.
Yelich went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, five RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 10-8 win over the Reds. Yelich fueled a huge Brewers comeback, driving in runs in four separate plate appearances and hitting what proved to be the game-winning homer in the sixth inning.
