Jake Larson, a World War II veteran who had over 1.2 million followers on TikTok, has died at the age of 102, as announced by his granddaughter on social media. Affectionately known online as "Papa Jake," Larson helped plan the Normandy landings and stormed Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.

Tributes to him quickly filled his “Story Time with Papa Jake" TikTok account from across the United States, where he had been living in Lafayette, California.
