The Chicago Cubs will keep three catchers on the big-league squad after they activated Miguel Amaya from the 60-day injured list before Tuesday’s series opener.

The Cubs have reinstated catcher Miguel Amaya and right-hander Javier Assad from the 60-day injured list, with Assad slated to start the series opener against the AL East-leading Blue Jays.

The Chicago Cubs welcomed back a starting pitcher but he, combined with a flagging offense, were not able to help them beat the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
