Throughout the course of the NHL offseason thus far, one of the major storylines has surrounded the future of Florida Panthers' free agent center Brad Marchand. Marchand is fresh off of helping lead the Panthers to their second straight championship.

The Maple Leafs have also reportedly traded Mitch Marner's negotiation rights to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Nic Roy, per Friedman. Marner reportedly signed an eight-year deal with the club at an AAV of $12 million.

As such, Marchand will be under contract at an average annual value of $5.33 million through the 2030-31 season, at which point he'll be just shy of 43 years old. It's a long term
