Love the Allman Brothers Band. The museum has tons of music, instruments and history that brought back memories of our college years. So glad we toured the home where music was made.Full review by ronaldsH3276CR

A really fascinating look at the history of this band. There's a lot of memorabilia. Even though I didn't know much about this band, I visited because a friend liked their music, and I found the mus…Full review by Rosalie N
We have been on a 2 week road trip down the Blue Ridge parkway and are stopping in Macon tomorrow (Thurs. Sept 3rd) for one night to do the Big House and the Rose cemetery. Wondering what we can do with our 13 year old small dog? Do you think I could carry her through the museum in a backpack because I can’t leave her in the car...

When we were there a couple of weeks ago it was very laid back. There was one staff member who was very nice. I am sure you won't have a problem. Especially if it's a small older dog and you carry her. You can also call them ahead of time. Have fun, you'll love it! Also nice grounds outside.
Hi, Michael. What would you like to know about this attraction? We are driving from Chicago to Orlando and want to stop in Macon overnight purposely to see the museum. If we arrive in Macon at 2-3PM would that allow us enough time to thoroughly see the museum before it closes. We are huge Allman fans and would be a shame to pass so close without stopping. Thanks!

Depends on what you consider “getting your moneys worth”. The museum/house is not large but they have a lot of interesting artifacts and memorabilia in display glasses throughout. I’m the type of person who likes to take my time and read and view everything when I tour a museum. If you’re like me give yourself 2 to 2.5 hours. Otherwise, if not concerned with all the details hour, hour and half. Talk with the staff if you have the opportunity. Great people who have interesting stories about the band. A lot of pride went into the museum and it shows.

Unfortunately, it will be closed when we are traveling through. Is it possible to get a picture from the gate?

As I remember it is a stand alone house and you should be able to walk up to the house and take pictures. It is unfortunate it will be closed when you are going through as it is a great visit.
