M56 engine in Oz? - E46 Fanatics Forum
Being in Oz, I'd be surprised if you had an M56, and realoem.com says your engine is M54 based on the last 7 digits of your VIN. But you can definitively tell by the valve cover (and the engine cover that sits over it)... they're very different on M54 vs M56. Take a peek at the Wikipedia articles for both engines (search for "BMW M54" and "BMW M56") to see what I mean.

So ive been messing around with my MS43, have successfully found the vin within the full flash file, and can change it as i please, but im wondering what the default value is, so that the DME will pull the vin from the EWS or other module when its availible? I tried 00'ing it, and ff'ing it...
